Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy!

Although this picture was taken just before Benjie and Jacob departed for church camp last week, this is typical of the first day of school...notice how ecstatic Jacob looks!

Ok, no homemade candy corn for us! After I posted about making it, I went back and re-read the directions, reassessed the situation and gave it up as a really, really bad idea! Although it sounds great, it also sounds like something that would end up a disaster at my house. But, hey-if you are so inclined, here's the link to it...let me know how it turns out.

This is sort of a transitional week here at the Hamlet. School starts Monday, and we are trying to get into a sort of school routine...earlier bedtimes, earlier rising times, gathering school supplies, sorting out clothes, making sure we have enough socks and underwear...always a challenge around here! I think B and Jonah are set, except for a pair of shoes each and a new backpack. Jacob needs some shorts and a few t shirts, then he's set. And of course, we have to get new glasses all around...hopefully they'll be ready before school starts.

And, next Monday morning when the last one gets out of the car and heads into school for the first time in 3 months, if you are watching, you'll see the strangest sight....mothers, all over the city, county, state and country, doing the "Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy" dance....all in unison...all with a blissful look on their (our!) faces! Oh, Happy Day!!

Later!
Cathy
